The third quarter of 2023 was a bit of a disappointment from a market perspective. Both stocks and bonds were down, in a quarter that felt more like 2022 than 2023. The S&P 500 was down -3.27% for the quarter but remains up +13.07% YTD. International markets were down -4.71% but are up +4.49% YTD.
The second quarter of 2023 was another good one from a market perspective. A clear turnaround from what we saw during 2022. The S&P 500 was up a very strong +8.74% for the quarter and 16.89% YTD. International markets were up +1.87% for the quarter and 9.66% YTD. Emerging markets were down slightly at -0.08%
The first quarter of 2023 was a pleasant one compared to what we’ve been dealing with for the past year. The S&P 500 was up +7.50% for the quarter and YTD. International markets were up +7.65% for the quarter and YTD. Emerging markets were up a bit less at +3.54% for the quarter and YTD.
Goodbye Summer Both Sandra and I are in agreement that this was one of the nicest summers we remember a while. Here in CT we had a couple of nice heat waves, which made for great time at the pool. Granted, not much rain, and our lawn got almost completely fried, but we’ll take that
Hello Summer! While it has not been a particularly warm summer so far, it is still far better than mid-January. Spring was also nice with enough rain to help get the flowers going, but not so much to be problematic. Spring clean-up is done and we await the hotter summer weather. We hope you all
